Rmibaud Rimbaud’s short career as a poet came to a fiery close with The Illuminations. The poems, written on scraps of paper, were left on the desk of Rimbaud’s erstwhile lover Paul Verlaine, who arranged and published them.
Innovative in iluminacioones juxtaposition of images and exploration of language, the poems have inspired generations of poets. They include some of the earlies Arthur Rimbaud’s short career as a poet came to a fiery close with The Illuminations. They include some of the earliest examples of free verse and prose poetry, and remain highly influential today.

It is not that the book is not well written: It is the images those words form, that is not appealing in my case The vision portrayed by the author is far too psychedelic for my taste Reading these Illuminations, one has the feeling of an openness directly into a iluminaviones of unknown chaos: Beautiful as some sentences are, It is not that the book is not well written: Beautiful as some sentences are, this is the kind of art that leaves me distant and a bit uneasy.
But it is merely my perception, so do not stop reading the author because of it!
Maria Carmo, Lisbon, 12 November View all 7 comments. Frankly, I do not know why I still bother with poetry. It is not, and apparently never will fimbaud a favourable genre of mine. Unjust rating, perhaps; but this very much resembles plain text to me. I did not connect with Arthur Rimbaud ‘s writing style at all.

The writing itself did very little for me. There were a few interesting perspectives in the poems, and they cover a wide range of themes. I have read somewhere that inside there rimbajd “one of the greatest poems ever written”, so I can just assume that it is me and not Rimbaud.
But for me 2 rimbau would be a good score for this book. Ama okuyunca eh dersiniz. Nem sequer posso dizer que been there, done that no que toca a ler este autor. E o que fiz?
It’s going back in the little free library. I’m sad about this.

Though I recognize and appreciate Rimbaud’s influence in the poetic sphere, Rimbad wasn’t my favorite read. I often felt disconnected from his visions and distracted by his overarching rimbaux toward technological progression. In short, Rimbaud seems more disillusioned than illuminated in this collection. That being said, I believe Illuminations is an imperative start to learning about prose poetry.
Coming from a Pynhead this might seem fresh, but I iluminxciones help but think a lot of this free associating, impetuous, hard-to-pin-down lyrical brain vomit is not, in fact, a work of genius, but instead something that’s very muddled. I’ll probably give this another shot in the future but for now this does nothing for me. I did like one or two of the poems, though View all 4 comments. Maybe poetry just isn’t for me, or maybe one needs to be much more intimate with the poet’s life to fully understand the poems, but I only made it halfway through this collection before I gave up, knowing I wasn’t getting anything out of the mesh of words.
I am not a big fan of iulminaciones to begin with, so this was probably not the best way to try to get into it. Various readings are possible, the translator choose to give precedence to the historical time frameand deciphering the codes. Even with my limited knowledge of French, I can see that I appreciate these poems in the original French better than the translation.

Rimbaud’s father left the family, and from the age of six, young Arthur was raised by his strictly religious mother. Rimbaud was educated in a provincial school until the age of fifteen.
He was an outstanding student but his behavior was considered provocative. After publishing his first poem, inat the age of 16, Rimbaud wandered through northern France and Belgium, and was returned to his home in Paris by police.
