Ever since Decemberright after the fall of the communist regime, Romania has turned towards the European values and the European integration have stated directly and unconditionally.
Its modernizations consist always and only of tenden- cies. We refer briefly to some examples. Modernization motivated and obliged the internal actors to work towards the con- struction of the modern Romanian state, with modern institutions and legal frameworks.
This also means that the national state is supposed to support new processes, specific to the modern society — democracy, citizenship, liberty, political competition, ideological diversity and seculariza- tion.
Today, a significant percentage of Romanians have reverted to antebellum ways of life.
